The variety pack contains:
(1) Boon Kriek Lambic
Kriek Lambic: For this speciality, we use old and young lambic beer that has aged in our oak casks. When the lambic is 6 months old, we add 25% black cherries. This provokes the second fermentation. We then clarify, filter and bottle it.
The cherries and young lambic create a red beer that is both natural and fresh, with an absolutely unforgettable sweet and sour taste. This is kriek as it should be, with nothing but real cherries and lambic. There is no place for artificial colourings or flavourings. 4% ABV
(1) Boon Oude Schaarbeekse Kriek
Kriek Lambic: These powerful cherries of Belgian origin, harvested in 2018, support the mellow and soft sourish flavor of the lambic with a very powerful, but balanced cherry expression. 6.5% ABV
(1) Chimay Dorée
Patersbier: Dorée (Gold) has been brewed inside the abbey walls since 1862, but was only available for the private consumption of the monks. They did not want to hurt local breweries who brewed light-drinking beers called Bier de Ménage or “household beer.” Thankfully in 2013 this drinkable Trappist style was allowed to leave the abbey walls. Named “Dorée” for its delicate golden color, this refreshingly crisp ale brings a delicious balance of citrus and spice. A fluffy white head releases the aromas of summer fruits followed by sparkling mouthfeel which ends with a hint of bitterness.4.8% ABV
(1) Chimay Grande Réserve
Belgian Strong Dark Ale: Grande Réserve was first launched in 1954 as a Christmas ale under the name “Blue Cap.” It’s success and reputation as a strong ale of the highest quality led to it’s year-round production as Chimay Grande Réserve. Today it is the standard bearer of the Chimay range and has become notorious for its amazing cellaring ability. A beer cellar on the grounds of the abbey secures a vast selection of Chimay Blue bottles whose ages span a multitude of decades.
The beer is remarkably dry for the style and the hint of sweetness is derived purely from the highest quality of malts. Flavors of dates, fig and pear are complimented by aromas of dark bread, with a touch of rose. As the beer ages it maintains its elegance while taking on flavors or sherry and tobacco. 9% ABV
(1) Petrus Aged Pale Ale
Belgian Sour: Petrus Aged Pale is a 100% uncut (not blended) beer from our oak foeders and aged for 24 months. Michael Jackson, the beer hunter, chose the name in the late 1990's and he was the first to sell it in his beer clubs. Today, it is still a leading reference for SOUR beers worldwide. Petrus Aged Pale has won multiple gold medals in international beer competitions. Moreover, ever since the start of the brewery, Petrus Aged Pale is used as a blending beer to give other beers fresh and slightly sour flavours and aromas. Cheers! 7.3% ABV
(1) Piraat Ale
Belgian Ale: Piraat is a wickedly rich and rounded brew that packs a mighty punch. The powerful glow builds up from inside. Deep golden with a subtle haze. Lots of hops and malt. Mild sweetness. Reminiscent of bread dough, spices and tropical fruits. 10.5% ABV
(1) Gulden Draak 9000 Quadruple
Abt/Quadrupel: Gulden Draak, lonely at the top for 25 years, now gets company The birthday present: Gulden Draak 9000 Quadruple, an enrichment of the Gulden Draak range. An ode to the past and to the city of (9000) GHENT The Gulden Draak is named after the gilded statue on top of the belltower of Ghent. Such eminent symbol, that has been standing firm for over 6 centuries, deserves equally grand beers. The unsurpassed Gulden Draak as dark tripel of 10,5% alcohol gets, after 25 years of growing success, quite an addition, the Gulden Draak 9000 Quadruple.
All features of the Gulden Draak The extremely rich and complex taste sensation and the stable beer head can also be found in the Gulden Draak 9000 Quadruple. The sweet caramel touches, however, are still reserved for the Gulden Draak.
With addition of extra malt The new recipe, on basis of 3 different kinds of malt added in a volume of 4 times the content in lager, provide the Gulden Draak 9000 Quadruple with a deep golden amber colour and a fruity scent. Together with the smooth and subtle sweet taste ensures this a wonderfully accomplished bouquet.
In line with the traditions of Brewery Van Steenberge Just like the other specialty beers of Brewery Van Steenberge is the Gulden Draak 9000 Quadruple a beer of high fermentation with secondary fermentation. A wine yeast is used for the secondary fermentation, which also contributes to the grandiose taste. 10.7% ABV
